Web Literacy Course from November Learning

Take the "Teaching Zack to Think" On-line Course
(at no cost to you or your school)

In my efforts to make quality professional development opportunities more widely available to our teachers, I signed up for Alan November's "Teaching Zack To Think" technology course.  I'm taking it now, and I'm very impressed with the quality.  If you take this course, the Teacher Center will pay for it.  I'm hoping that local administrators allow teachers to earn in-service credit of some type for taking the course.  This is very good quality and could easily count toward a teacher's 175 hour requirement.

From the November Learning website:

The Teaching Zack to Think course is designed to prepare educators to be webliterate and fully fluent in the Grammar of the Internet. Written in partnership with UK and US educators, this course introduces a full range of skills including search techniques and advanced cross referencing of web sites for critical thinking.

What can I expect?

The course is composed of Modules and Lessons. Each lesson introduces a new concept, provides step-by-step instructions, activities and assessment. Many activities are suitable for immediate use in the classroom with students of all ages.

Whether relatively new to the Internet or an advanced user, the course offers a range of Internet teaching materials designed to help educators stay current and informed about information literacy skills and issues.

Hosted by November Learning and powered by MOODLE, Teaching Zack is under constant development and is updated as new tools and techniques become available.

Is this a new government program or what?

Are you good at helping your
students understand good sources from
not-so-good ones?  This important
skill (along with many others) is taught
as part of the course.
